Bees Are The Focus For Kirkwood’S Earth Day

Experts from more than 20 green organizations will be ready to tell you about the “birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees,” at Kirkwood’s 7th annual Earth Day on Apri1 16.

Most activities will be focused in the Farmer’s Market Greenway area, although an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony across from the city’s train station will get things started at 9 a.m.  Kirkwood in Bloom will contribute a landscape-sized Wildfire black tupelo tree for the occasion.

Fenton Wastewater Treatment Plant Repair Update & Public Meeting Scheduled

FB MeetingThe Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) says secondary treatment operations have restarted for the Fenton Wastewater Treatment Plant. A community update meeting has also been scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2016, at 6pm.  The meeting will take place at the City Hall for the City of Arnold.

“Kirkwood In Bloom” Contributes To Special Tree Planting Event

EVENT: History Celebration of CCC Company 1743 at Washington State Park

In honor of Black History Month, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding an event for the public at Washington State Park to learn more about Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Company 1743. The CCC Company 1743 was an African American company, and the DNR says that their “Craftmanship can be seen throughout the park.”

The St. Louis screening of “Can You Dig This” was a packed house. The film followed several community members of an often violent, gang inhabited, and poverty stricken, South Central Los Angeles neighborhood. The common factor between the characters revolved around the often harsh daily realities they face, and the positive influence of urban gardens.
