Environmental Journalism Professor Don Corrigan spoke before several groups this week about Missouri’s costly weather events, including the West County Democrats Monthly Meeting on, February 8, 2016. .
Corrigan, author of “Show Me…Nature’s Wrath,” talked about his weather book and how he’s used it across Missouri to speak to climate change skeptics. Don’s view is that weird weather talk is a way to change the hearts and minds — and politics — of Missourians. Among his presentation highlights: How and why the weather is getting weirder; and, the impact of the recent Goliath Storm on the Midwest. Don gave particular attention to the floods and tornadoes of today’s new super storms.
Among his other points, the climate change skeptics and talk show babblers can call us names — and he provided a few of them. Names will never hurt us, but ignoring the science of climate change can definitely hurt us.
