St. Louis, MO– Yesterday evening, Environment Missouri hosted the St. Louis Renewable Energy Summit. The event welcomed panelists Jack Cardetti-  political consultant for Clean Line Energy Partners, Dr. Allison Miller- professor at Saint Louis University and research associate at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, David Crossley- Professor of geophysics at Saint Louis University, and Fredrick Doss-  Legislative Assistant to Representative Michael Butler, to discuss global warming, its impacts in Missouri, and the role of renewable energy in creating a sustainable future.

St. Louis Renewable Energy Summit: Call for Shift to 100 percent Renewable Energy

The Summit will feature a panel of experts who will lead a discussion on renewable energy from a variety of perspectives.

Missouri Deer Hunters Help MDC In Efforts To Fight Chronic-Wasting Disease

The collection of 19,200 Deer harvest tissue samples were collected from 29 Missouri counties during the opening weekend of fall firearms deer season. The samples will help the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) evaluate next steps in chronic-wasting-disease management efforts.

Missouri Hunters Help St. Louis Area Families In Need

The Share the Harvest program, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri, enables hunters to help families in need through the voluntary deer meat donation.  Since it started in 1992, Share the Harvest has provided more than 3.5 million pounds of lean, healthy venison to help feed hungry Missourians.

Environment Missouri maps out “50 Steps Towards Carbon-Free Transportation” to fight Global Warming

Environment Missouri has some ideas about helping transportation be carbon-free. Matter of fact, they have 50 of them.

In a recent news release, Environment Missouri shared how it is taking their ideas straight to St. Louis City Hall. This week, the group released the report in front of the local government building with Marielle Brown of Trailnet and Roger Lewis of Saint Louis University speaking at the event.

TRIM Grants Awarded To Missouri Communities

The Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance (TRIM) grant program awarded 36 Missouri communities a total of $380,754 this year. The monetary awards are granted through the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC).

The TRIM grant program is “cost-sharing funding for government agencies, public schools, and nonprofit groups to manage, improve or conserve trees on public lands.

See a list of the 36 Missouri communities awarded the 2016 TRIM grants. (Many of the cities are in the St. Louis area.)
