Local Event: “We’re being invaded by Aliens!”

Gateway Greening’s monthly series, Pints ‘n’ Plants, will feature a presentation on invasive plants in the local area.

The aliens in our line of work are all too familiar. Bush honeysuckle and callery pear rank high among species in the St. Louis region that are causing the most disruption among our natural and planned landscapes.

In this presentation, we will learn of the origin, reason for initial use, and why these species remain so prevalent in the landscape. We will discuss strategies for management, as well as suitable native replacement species. The goal is to provide a thought provoking and informative lesson that can progress a dialogue for our industries to take action.

Gateway Greening’s Pints ‘n’ Plants is a casual, free, and open to the public gathering of interested individuals who meet every third Wednesday of the month. Guest speakers share knowledge in their field and conversation follows.
