The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Powder Valley Nature Center will welcome accomplished Missouri nature and wildlife photographer Matt Miles for a special presentation on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Miles, who recently published the book MissouriWild and Wonderful, will share some of his spectacular photographs on the video wall in Powder Valley’s auditorium as he discusses his experiences during 20 years of photographing outdoor Missouri.

“Photography presents both challenge and pleasure in sharing my outdoor experiences with others. Both quests are combined in this book,” states Miles in the introduction of Missouri Wild and Wonderful. “I hope these pages create a greater awareness and appreciation of Missouri’s natural beauty and wonders.”
Miles, an award-winning photographer and native of rural Webster County, has been exploring natural and wild places throughout Missouri with his camera for the best two decades. Drawing on a life-long interest and study of nature, he’s captured stunning images of landscapes and native birds and wildlife along the way. His intimate and dramatic images have appeared in numerous publications.
Miles will be on hand to autograph copies of his book, which will be on sale at Powder Valley’s Nature Shop, after the presentation.

While at Powder Valley, visitors can also enjoy photographic works on display in the nature center’s exhibit hall by members of the Missouri Nature and Environmental Photographers group (MoNEP). They will be sharing images from their visits to parks of all types, large and small. The MoNEP “A Walk in the Park” exhibit will be on display through mid-December and represents the scenic beauty and natural encounters that parks provide to millions of visitors each year.
