Missouri State Parks has released information about the Batty about Bats event. Bats are an important part of the eco-system and learning about their contributions to our environment is a great way to help protect them.

Echo Bluff State Park invites the public to its second annual Batty about Bats event 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the park. The annual event is free and designed to educate people about these fascinating and important flying mammals.
The Batty about Bats event begins at 2 p.m. at the park’s Terrapin Station shelter where participants can work with park staff to build a bat house. The nighttime program begins at 8 p.m. at the park’s amphitheater, where participants will learn about bats, including their importance to the environment, the different threats they face, and how they are misunderstood by many.
Participants will then rotate through different activity stations which will include looking through an inferred camera, echolocation monitoring and demonstration of how scientists safely capture bats with a mist net and work with the live specimens at a processing table.
Echo Bluff State Park is located on Hwy. 19 approximately 25 miles south of Salem and approximately 14 miles north of Eminence.
